After a week of academic studies, lessons and concentration, weekends are a chance for students to let their hair down and enjoy some time away from the classroom.

At Rendcomb College we are fortunate to have an impressive array of locations and activities on our doorstep, as well as events organised on campus to bring the boarding school community together. We dispel the myths that when the weekend comes round, everyone disperses or are left alone in their rooms - quite the opposite! Our team put a great deal of effort into putting together a full and thriving programme throughout the year to make the most of the evenings and weekends spent at boarding school alongside their friends.

WHAT DOES RENDCOMB OFFER THEIR PUPILS ON THE WEEKEND?

We’re proud to offer an exciting schedule of events and activities for pupils with our leading facilities and forward-thinking ideas. From relaxed pizza and movie nights to cookery and baking classes, quiz nights and treasure hunts, there is plenty to take part in so that students never feel bored or left out. We encourage an all inclusive policy where everyone is welcome but can also dip in and out of the programme on offer. Rendcomb College also hosts plenty of sports tournaments from Badminton to Touch Rugby and Dodgeball to name a few, using our impressive sports arenas and host street dance workshops amongst other extra curricular courses to broaden students’ horizons.

Plus we like to make the most of a celebration by putting on exquisite events for pupils to get dressed up and revel in the likes of the Chinese New Year and Met Gala Evenings just to name a few. One facility that does make Rendcomb unique is our Crypt Nightclub and Barn Space where students can be social in a safe environment with dancing and music. Weekends are also a chance to catch up on homework and extra studies as well if students feel the need to focus - especially in the lead up to exams.

EXPLORE THE LOCAL AREA

Calling the Cotswolds home, we are fortunate to have a large number of attractions to visit nearby. From Bath to Bristol, Stroud Farmers Markets to Cheltenham Festivals featuring jazz and literature, there’s also nature reserves such as Slimbridge Bird Sanctuary and Cotswold Wildlife Park. There’s a chance to go to Bicester Village for a spot of shopping or an opportunity to test your agility with Glow in the Dark Dodgeball, Bouldering Climbing Trips and Inflatable obstacle courses which are great fun! We’re also lucky to have a selection of theatres nearby too where we can relish in the latest productions which have come to the area. The staff at Rendcomb always ensure that the trips are organised with the students' health and safety in mind, and we put on minibuses and people carriers to ensure that transport is taken care of. Above all we want them to flourish and have fun at the weekends, making the most of their downtime.

KEEPING IN TOUCH WITH HOME

It can be tough sometimes being away from home. Of course it’s completely optional for students to go home at the weekend to spend time with family, but parents should rest assured that their children’s social calendar isn’t dull. Boarding school pupils are allowed personal electronic devices and access to WI-FI so that they can easily contact home. There’s also an option for parents to come to the local area and explore all the great things the Cotswolds have to offer. Our open door policy puts parents and pupils at ease and gives them an opportunity to make the most of their boarding school life.

There are many benefits to boarding school life for pupils in Year 7 and above. Not only do they get to enjoy their own dormitories which are equipped with everything to make it feel homely, they also have houseparents and domestic teams to guide them and look after their personal wellbeing.
