Support for International Students
Dedicated Pastoral Care
Each international student’s experiences are different depending on what year group you’re in and your cultural background. That’s why we have dedicated pastoral staff available for all, as well-being, emotional support and integration into the school community which is a priority to us.
Orientation and Settling In
As soon as you walk through the gates at Rendcomb College you’ll receive our tailored induction programme that is designed around you to enhance working in partnership to improve international student integration and experience. Pupils will be part of a buddy system where you’ll be teamed up with a trusted student who can confidently show you around Rendcomb College until you feel comfortable being more independent. Plus you’ll be introduced to orientation activities alongside fellow students from diverse cultures and given mentor support through your time at Rendcomb College whether you’re in senior school, sixth form or looking to go into higher education.
Academic Support
Our bespoke learning support is developed to focus on your personalised learning plans. We invest in all of our students’ chosen pathways whilst delivering the common curriculum to the highest standards. For international students, we include learning English as part of our Additional Language (EAL) support and take your education to another level with our breadth of subjects and over 100 co-curricular activities to expand your horizons even further. Independent schools such as Rendcomb College believe in close interaction with pupils to ensure academic success. This is achieved with our small class sizes with a maximum of 20 students.
Cultural Support
Embracing Diversity
We are proud of what all our pupils bring to Rendcomb College, and in doing so celebrate and highlight the multi-cultural environment that we live and learn. Each individual enriches our school community and we embrace diversity every day. Plus, on special occasions, we certainly like to showcase international holidays for all to enjoy with Chinese New Year, Thanksgiving, and Diwali, and take into great consideration any dietary requirements you may have.
Extra-curricular Engagement
Offering a wide variety of extra-curricular activities such as orchestra, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, equestrian and computing, day school and boarding school for international students allows pupils to integrate with peers and develop skills outside of the classroom that they’re passionate about and are keen to pursue as part of their future careers. This mutual appreciation of an activity not only builds on a student’s personal hobbies, but helps to create a network with others who enjoy it too.
Visa Support
As a registered UKVI Student Sponsor we do our utmost to assist parents and their children with our dedicated Visa Administrator who can guide you through this process and help with supporting documentation. The previous Tier 4 route has been replaced with a new Student Route for those arriving outside the UK to study at Rendcomb. Throughout your journey with us, we provide ongoing support if you need to renew or switch your Visa for a seamless transition.
Boarding Life and Facilities for International Students
At Rendcomb College we want all international students to feel comfortable and at home. We appreciate that living far away from loved ones can be tough, that’s why we actively make it our priority to provide a nurturing and structured routine that is respectful of all cultures. Our four specially designed houses located around the school’s campus in the Cotswolds feature everything a modern student could need with kitchen facilities, study areas and communal spaces to socialise. We have trained and experienced members of staff who are emphatic about how it feels being away and encourage activities to bring each other together in the week and at weekends. This includes sports tournaments, pizza and movie nights, visits to local sites, baking classes, quizzes and treasure hunts, providing a complete array for downtime. There’s also our on-site Crypt Nightclub and Barn Space where students can dance in a safe environment. Safety is of utmost importance to us so parents can rest assured that the wellbeing of their children is highly cared for both on and off campus.
From prep school to sixth form, parents choose Rendcomb College time and time again for our academic success, personal growth, support and inclusive community. Year after year parents come to us because we’re enriched with cultural diversity and embrace everyone’s unique personalities and characteristics. When students leave our doors we want them to be confident, resilient and thoughtful young adults who are equipped with key soft skills and academic knowledge to propel them into universities and careers across the world. We help manage your time effectively and deliver on all your requirements for an experience like no other.
