On Armistice Day, Tuesday 11th November, just before 11.00am the Rendcomb College community stopped to observe the national two-minute silence.

Pupils from our nursery, junior and senior schools joined staff for an act of remembrance, led by Marie Hobbs (Chaplain) and Andy Murphy (Head of College).

The College community gathered in the Courtyard to remember all those who have given their lives in service to their country and in particular, pupils from Rendcomb who lost their lives in the Second World War:

Arthur Caley, Raymond Curtis, Robert Gurdon, John Harmer, Anthony Harrison, Reginald Ingleton, Kenneth Noble, Donald Richards, John Spencer, Denis Stone, Roger Waters, John Whall, Trevor Wright, Alan Wyon, John Young.

In addition, we remember those from the Parish of Rendcomb:

Alan Oswald Barker, Peter Lane, John Graham Lane, Anthony Winter Lane, Sir Nigel Norman, Michael Desmond Hamilton Wills.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them. - Laurence Binyon, 1864-1943

On Remembrance Sunday, a selection of pupils and staff attended a service at St Peter's Rendcomb. Our Chapel Prefects are pictured below alongside Marie Hobbs (Chaplain) and Nick Cox (Deputy Head, Academic). On Saturday morning, there was a minute’s silence held before the opening matches of the Jonny Wilkinson Cup (rugby) and Issy Bailey Cup (hockey) tournaments.
