Travel and Tourism
We offer Travel and Tourism BTEC in Sixth Form at Rendcomb College.

Do you want to work in one of the world’s fastest growing industries? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then this BTEC is for you! Travel and tourism is a growing sector globally, which has created a wide range of career opportunities in a number of different sectors (such as airport, airlines and cruises), hospitality, event management and marketing to name just a few.
Students will study for the 2019 Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism from Pearson (Edexcel). This is equivalent in size to one A Level. Over the course of two years students will be required to study 4 units of which 3 are mandatory and 1 is optional. Mandatory units include, The World of Travel and Tourism, Global Destinations and Principles of Marketing in Travel and Tourism. Our optional unit is Events, Conferences and Exhibitions.
Students will also go on several trips during the course. In Year 12, pupils visit a UK tourist destination while in Year 13, students will have the option of organising a short international trip to a European city.
Assessment is specifically designed to fit the purpose and objective of the qualification. It includes a range of assessment types and styles suited to vocational qualifications in the sector. There are three main forms of assessment; external, internal and synoptic.
