Drama & Theatre Studies
Drama is a thriving and exciting part of life at Rendcomb College. Senior productions are staged every Christmas alternating between plays and musicals. Recent productions have included “Les Misérables” and “And Then There Were None.”
Students have frequent opportunities to visit the theatre and to work with well-known theatre practitioners such as Frantic Assembly during bespoke workshops. The Sixth Form work on major productions as backstage and tech teams, Deputy Stage Managers and also as Assistant Directors on Lower School Productions.
The two year course is comprised of a number of components including a devising piece, a performance text/monologue, a live theatre evaluation and a range of analysis of various works.
Across the year students have been visited by various theatre companies, most recently Frantic Assembly, and have been taken to watch many performances giving them an in-depth view into the work they will be expected to prepare and providing them with all of the tools necessary to succeed.
In addition pupils will also have the opportunity to audition for various school productions, all held in our state of the art Griffin Theatre, giving them a taste for life on a professional stage with a live audience.
Previous performances have included Les Misérables, And Then There Were None, and our current show, The Crucible. Watch the trailer below.
Pupils may apply for a Drama Scholarship preceding Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12 entry.
