The Admissions Journey
Contact the Admissions office today to discuss entry to Rendcomb College:
A typical admissions journey entails the following steps:
- Initial enquiry
- Open Day
- Personal Visit
- Taster Day
- Offer of a place
Registration adds your child onto our entry lists and can take place at any time throughout the year. In order to register your child, the Registration form should be completed and returned to the Admissions Office together with the non-refundable Registration Fee of £100. Please note that unfortunately registration does not necessarily guarantee a place.
Children are able to join our Nursery in the Term that they turn 3 years old (providing they are potty trained). We ask for children to take part in a ‘Taster Session’ ahead of entry into our Nursery group and to meet with our Head of Juniors. The Nursery consists of a number of light, spacious, colourful areas – each individually designed to stimulate learning through play and a quiet rest area. Each area is well-equipped and resourced creating a warm and inspiring environment.
The Nursery offers flexible arrangements based on sessions: 5 mornings (9.00am-12.00pm or 9.00am-12.45pm to include lunch) and 5 afternoons (12.00pm-3.30pm to include lunch or 12.45pm- 3.30pm). It is common for children to increase the number of sessions during the academic year in order to prepare for their exciting move up to Reception.
For entry into our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 groups (age 4+), we welcome your application throughout the year with a view of starting at the beginning of a new term. We ask that families initially visit the Junior School (to include a tour conducted by current pupils) and have a meeting with our Head of Juniors to initially meet your child and give an oppertunity to see all we have to offer. Following a successful visit, we ask that you register your child and that they take part in a Taster Day where some short assessments will take place within lesson time in Maths and English. A report from the child’s current school is also required (where applicable).
For entry into our Junior years (age 7+), we welcome families for an initial visit, which includes a tour of the Junior School and a meeting with our Head of Juniors. We then invite your child to be registered and to take part in a Taster Day experience. We ask that your child takes some short assessments to review English, Maths and Verbal Reasoning as part of the Shadow Day. The assessment will be taken in a relaxed, classroom environment and does not require any advanced preparation. A report from the child’s current school is also required.
Here at Rendcomb College Junior School prospective pupils are asked to take part in a Taster Day ahead of an offer of a place. Your child shall be teamed up with a ‘buddy’ who has similar interests to your child and will attend lessons and activities during a typical school day. Taster Days are designed to give your son or daughter the chance to understand and engage with school life here and to encourage a smooth transition when moving schools.
The Taster Day experience is as much for your child as it is us here at Rendcomb; it is the chance to assess whether we are a suitable fit for your child and will be able to offer a happy school life and all the support they need. In our Junior School we are flexible and can therefore offer an appropriate day from our timetable to suit your child’s interests and strengths to ensure a positive and fun experience.
Offer of a place and Acceptance
Following a successful Taster Day an offer of a place will be made. An Acceptance Form shall be sent along with an offer letter for your child. The Acceptance Form will need to be completed and signed by both parents and returned to the Admissions Office with the Acceptance Fee of £250. The form will be provided with a copy of our Parental Contract containing our terms and conditions.
The Acceptance Fee acts as a deposit and shall be refunded at the time the pupil leaves Rendcomb College (minus any sums due). Once paid, the fee will be forfeited if the pupil does not enter the school. During the Acceptance period, if not beforehand, the Admissions Team will request a reference from your child’s current school (where applicable).
Once a place has been accepted and a start date confirmed, the Admissions Team will provide your family with joining instructions containing information about our uniform, along with other key information and essential forms.
