A Level Results 2018

Year 13 students at Rendcomb College this morning picked up their long-awaited A Level results.

Head of College, Rob Jones said: “Congratulations to all of our students on their results in what has been a challenging and changing landscape for them. This year’s cohort have achieved above the national average across the board.”

Courses and destinations for students this year include Medicine at Exeter, Biochemistry at Warwick, Music at Edinburgh, Genetics at Manchester, Film Studies at London Southbank and Computer Science at Keele.

Rob added: “We focus on the individual at Rendcomb with each pupil receiving tailored advice over the past two years to prepare them for their next steps and their future. Our team of experts have also been on hand today, coaching students and their families through these important, life-changing decisions.

“Rendcombians can count on one-to-one care and advice, a quality which is entrenched in our history. Being a small school, we are a close-knit family. While our Year 13s have finally flown the nest, we look forward to following their progress in the coming years.”

Deputy Head Academic, Nick Cox, said: “The reformed content and harder assessments have posed a new challenge for students up and down the country. Our small class sizes and tailored support from staff has greatly benefited each student in navigating these more demanding public examinations.”

While the assessments and examinations are evolving, so is the Sixth Form experience at Rendcomb College; Year 12s starting this September will be able to sign up to new courses and take advantage of a new-look timetable;

  • The BTEC programme will include Business,
  • The Arts Award will be available as well as the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), both of which attract UCAS points,
  • All students will participate in C-Cubed, Rendcomb College’s own programme developing Collaboration, Communication and Creativity.

Facilities are also being enhanced with the construction of a new Astroturf and Strength and Conditioning Suite this summer. Next year, work will start on a new Sixth Form Centre with a planned opening date of January 2020.
