RUGBY
Our aim is to provide high quality coaching to the pupils and competitive and enjoyable fixtures in a safe environment
The pupils are trained in the necessary techniques, tactics and strategies for effective rugby and this is underpinned by developing pupils’ fitness levels. We aim to encourage a style of play that is dynamic and expansive and to foster a reputation for playing the game in a manner that is true to its spirit.
We take pleasure and pride in success on the field - winning seasons (only one losing season at 1st XV in the last fifteen years and a 100% record at 1st XV in 2002-2003, 11 matches won and only one lost at U13 level in 2007-2008) - and county honours (one example of many being the 2007-2008 captain of rugby who represented Gloucestershire at U18 level).
However, just as important are the themes of participation and of staff sharing their dedication and enthusiasm in an arena beyond the classroom and the notion that success is measured just as much by a pupil’s enjoyment and their desire to continue with rugby after leaving the College.
