Nursery Class for 3 - 4 year olds

"Let us open the gate to your child's future"

Rendcomb Nursery class is a calm, welcoming and friendly environment. At Rendcomb, we believe that personal, social and emotional development plays a huge part in their future progression through the school. We understand the importance of high quality pre-school education and aim to ensure that your child will embark on their educational journey with enthusiasm, developing their literacy and numeracy skills alongside those of creativity and imagination.

We offer an unrivalled environment for learning and outdoor activities. Our light, spacious and airy rooms are individually designed and are well equipped and superbly resourced creating an attractive and stimulating learning environment. Rendcomb Nursery class is set within 200 acres of Cotswolds parkland where children can have space and freedom to play and explore in beautiful surroundings. There is a strong emphasis on personal and social skills in a friendly, positive and caring environment, encouraging children to grow in confidence and self esteem.

It was first opened in January 2005 and sits close by to the Otters' department. Experienced staff, Mrs Sophie Tarplee (NNEB, Norland dip) and Miss Ruth Flint (DCE, Norland dip) take great pride and passion in supporting and developing each child’s development through a carefully planned curriculum, based on the Early Years Foundation Stage. Each child has their own foundation stage journal which enables staff and parents to see how each individual child is developing during their time at Rendcomb and enables a smooth transistion from nursery into Reception.

Independent Schools Inspection report September 2008. "The staff have a deep understanding of young children, and this informs every aspect of their work. Careful planning and organisation, and imaginatively designed activities help the children to succeed as learners. Ongoing observation and assessment, and close communication with parents underpin children’s progress and development. The setting is extremely attentive to every aspect of children’s welfare. The staff constantly seek ways to improve further, learning from and sharing with others, locally and nationally."

The children enjoy a huge variety of experiences with the Nursery staff and specialist subject teachers. Apart from their everyday Nursery based activities, the outdoor environment is used extensively and the children benefit from regular Forest School sessions with our trained Forest School leaders, Mrs Katie Hockey and Miss Ruth Flint.
