J4 spent a morning preparing, cooking and eating a well balanced lunch. Healthy meals on the menu were chicken pasta, meatballs and rice and ‘ Easy Cheesy Peasy Pasta’. They also created exotic drinks such as fresh strawberry milkshake and crushed pear juice. The children were all in agreement that the morning had been great fun and the food was absolutely delicious. Oliver Jones said ‘It was the best meal I’ve ever had and we all wanted seconds!’

Over the last term J3 have been studying Roman Britain and learning Latin at the same time.
The Minimus stories are based on a real family living in Roman Britain at Vindolanda Fort.
Through these stories J3 have learnt about school and home life and how the language works.
This culminated in a fantastic assembly where J3 performed a play in Latin and English,
even singing Old MacDonald had a Farm in Latin!
J3 will be studying French again after Easter but Minimus is staying and there will be a new Latin Club for the J3-6 at lunchtime.

J3 to J6 spent this morning taking part in a plethora of Maths activities. The children were placed in mixed age group teams
and it was wonderful to see older children helping younger pupils and all working together to earn points for amazing Maths tasks, teamwork and manners. The four teams were Archimedes, Pythagoras, Einstein and Newton. The children also had an opportunity to spend some time on-line competing in Maths games against students from 235 countries around the world. All children performed really well and were a credit to Rendcomb.By the end of the morning the team which earned the most points was Einstein whose members were duly crowned Maths Marvels 2010!

J4 spent an exciting morning in Gloucester Cathedral learning about the history of the monastery, why the monks had to leave in Tudor times and why the Cathedral survived Henry V111’s destruction of churches. The children dressed as monks and sang in Latin and also had an opportunity to write with a quill pen and make brass rubbings. In the afternoon, we crossed the road to the Folk Museum where there was an opportunity to dress in Tudor costume and study artefacts.

Pretty in Pink is an exhibition of photographs based within the city of Jaipur. Alex Stoneman
and Billy-Jay Starling are Bath based professional photographers who visited Jaipur during 2007 to document the life and character of the city. They chose the city due to its particular affection for the colour pink and the enigmatic history surrounding Jaipur. Alex Stoneman comments, “ The hospitality afforded us by the friendly locals was wonderful, but we didn’t realise just how pink Jaipur was until we arrived. Everything from saris and turbans to the lampposts and the loos are all decorated in with this vibrant colour!”
