Welcome to Lawn House
Lawn House is the senior boys boarding and day house at Rendcomb College. We are home to fifty two 4th and 5th form boys during the day and 36 weekly and full-time boarders during the evenings and weekends.
As house-parents, my wife and I are very proud of our boys and along with our dedicated tutor and domestic teams, attempt to provide a comfortable and homely environment in which the boys can grow and develop confidently as young individuals. Education is more than just academic and we strive to produce well rounded, responsible young men and therefore politeness and etiquette is something we see as an important part of our role as house-parents. We expect all of our boys to demonstrate tolerance and thoughtfulness towards each other because it is not always easy to live as part of a larger, extended family.
It is very important that we offer an exciting and stimulating environment which pushes and stretches our students, whilst ensuring that they have all the support and advice they need to develop their full potential. Each boy is accommodated in a sizeable, individual bedroom, with a personal study space. We have three kitchens and two living areas with pool table, 42” plasma screen, facilitated by Sky and the obvious boy’s toys including an XBox and a Wii. We celebrate every birthday with cake and chocolates and these photographs are displayed throughout the year in our foyer.
During the evenings we offer a variety of activities ranging from dodge-ball in the sports hall, to themed evenings in our social centre, which houses a jukebox and comfortable leather sofas, as well as offering soft drinks and snacks. It is an ideal environment for both the girls and boys to meet up during the evenings and this is supervised by the evening tutor teams.
We pride ourselves on the relationship that we develop with our families and have an open door policy for both pupils and parents so that they feel able to speak with us at any time.
