Mr Dunn's Guitar Ensemble played a beautiful Russian melody; and special mention is deserved of Matt Williams's playing of a Gavotte by Handel. This was executed with touching tenderness and beauty. Lauren Dudlyke and Benedict Schallamach played confident and entertaining piano solos; and we were treated to a piano duet, The Pink Parasol, played by Amy Johnson and Mr McKelvey.

The second half of the concert was given over to a performance of Carey Blyton's engaging musical tale of Sweeney Todd energetically directed by Mr McKelvey, and accompanied by Mr Colls at the piano. All pupils in J5 and J6 enjoyed singing its seven charming songs, which included oom-pah-pah Waltzes, a nautical Bourrée and a lively Polka, culminating in a pastiche of "Rule, Britannia". This was all sung with great gusto and drama. The gruesome story, with its happy ending, was told in a characterful and barbarously witty way by our special guest narrator, Mrs Lee.
