Recent JEST Events:
JEST First Friday Fun - September '09
Pupils designed their own Christmas cards which were later professsionally printed. In the process money was raised for The Little Princess Trust.
JEST Autumn Bash - September '09
Parents and staff enjoyed supper together and then re-lived their youth at the 80's disco.
Summer Fete- June '09
The sun blazed down on the JEST summer fete held at the end of June and allowed the children and their families to enjoy the huge array of stalls and activities that the fete had to offer. The children helped to cool their Headmaster down by giving plentiful support to the “wet sponge throwing” competition and, once again, the “doughnuts on the line” proved extremely popular. There was a range of herbs for sale at “The Little Herb Shop” – all grown and tended by the J3 children; meanwhile the older boys proved that the heat wasn’t going to lessen their ability to pitch their skills against the dads on “Penalty Shoot-Out”! Other stalls included a Coconut Shy, Tombola, Hook-a-Duck, Guess the Sweets in the Jar, Find the Treasure, Ping-Pong Challenge, Lucky Dip and Face Painting - all of which proved very popular. Contributions from parents to the Plant Stall also allowed us to make a donation to TWIGS – a local charity helping people regain physical and mental health through gardening.
May Ball - May '09
This year JEST joined forces with the Senior School Parents’ Association to host a May Ball for parents and staff from both the Junior and Senior School. 200 guests enjoyed a champagne reception and three-course dinner, followed by dancing to live music provided by Locomotion and some serious fun on the Casino tables and Gold Cup Horses.
First Friday Fun – Bingo - April '09
The Summer Term started with another classic for the children – Bingo! From nursery to J6 this again proved an “all-ages” annual favourite.
Cake and Book Sale - March '09
Our cake and children’s second-hand book sale coincided with Red Nose Day and the generous donations of both cakes and books from parents ensured that stomach’s were filled, bookshelves were stocked and money was raised for both JEST and Comic Relief.
First Friday Fun –Activity Stations - January '09
Over 50 pupils took part in the First Friday Fun at the start of the Spring Term. The children all got involved in a variety of activities including bag decorating, dominoes, tiddly-winks, biscuit decorating and playing a memory game.
Children’s Christmas Parties - December '08
The Otters and Juniors both enjoyed Christmas parties at the end of the Michaelmas Term. They were kept entertained by a magic show and then enjoyed a party tea. Father Christmas also found time in his busy schedule to meet the children and had presents for everyone.
Christmas Fair - November '08
At the end of November JEST held a Christmas Fair, kindly hosted by Catherine and Adam Schallamach. A number of stall holders sold a range of goods, including handbags, jewellery and Christmas gifts. Shoppers enjoyed shopping and socialising over a glass of wine and were also entertained by a Pampered Chef cookery demonstration. The evening raised £220 for JEST.
Autumn Bash - October '08
This year’s Autumn Bash saw parents and teachers enjoying a Ceildeh evening, with the dancing following on from a hearty chilli supper. The George Buchanan provided the music and patiently called the dance moves!
First Friday Fun - Beetle Drive - September '08
The year started with good old-fashioned fun – a Beetle Drive, which was very well attended by children of all ages from the Junior School. The event was made all the more individual by the wooden die which had been handmade by a previous J6 pupil, Stuart Gallop.
